Advertisement & Upset Bid: The Board of Commissioners has authorized publication of the above-described offer to purchase county-owned real property for upset bids. The current upset bid period will begin March 1, 2026, and will continue in successive 10-day periods until a last and highest offer has been received. To place a bid, a bidder must raise the current highest bid at least by 10% of the $1,000 and 5% of the remainder.

Prior to the advertisement of an offer, the bidder will deposit 5% of the total bid amount with the Clerk to the Board of Commissioners in accordance with G.S. 160A-269. The successful bidder’s deposit will be applied against the Purchase Price of the Property less the cost of the advertisement. The cost of the advertisement shall be nonrefundable to the highest bidder.

Other Considerations: After the close of the upset bid period, the Board of Commissioners may choose to sell the Property to the highest bidder, or the Board may reject all bids.
