Diabetes prevention program celebrates graduating class
Congratulations to the graduating class of 2026, Public Health #12!
Great job on completing the 12-month diabetes prevention program, where you learned healthy eating habits, managed your stressors and increased your physical activity to improve your overall well-being.
During the ceremony, graduates expressed their true dedication and the methods by which they held each other accountable throughout the year. Graduates started their own walking group that met bi-weekly and shared nutritious recipes that could be prepared in place of unhealthy meals. Both of which led to many participants achieving their goals of A1c reduction and weight loss.
Way to go the extra mile in reducing your risk of Type 2 diabetes!
If you or anyone you know is at risk for Type 2 diabetes and would like to join the Minority Diabetes Prevention Program (MDPP), please contact Dr. Kasey Wilkie by email at wilkiekl@forsyth.cc or by phone at (336)703-3219. There are available spots for our upcoming evening, and virtual cohorts set to begin in May and June 2026.
MDPP is a free, year-long program for those who are at risk for Type 2 diabetes. The program has been proven to cut the risk of Type 2 diabetes through healthy eating, meal planning, fitness and handling stress.
