New Technology to Track Sex Offenders

The recent development by Attorney General Roy Cooper and his staff allows anyone with a Smartphone to track sex offenders in North Carolina. This new tool provides a quick and mobile way to find and keep track of registered sex offenders and is part of Attorney General Cooper’s mission to protect children and inform the citizens of North Carolina. A News Conference demonstrating the new app was held on Monday, February 6 at the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office.

The FCSO understands the concerns citizens have regarding sex offenders residing in communities. Because we are committed to protecting our citizens, we want to equip them with tools to keep them safe. Sex offenders must inform the local Sheriff’s Office when they move into a new area.

Citizen awareness and involvement is key to a safe community. Parents and caretakers should be proactive and know the community and the people who reside in the area. Citizens can also report possible registered sex offender violations to local law enforcement.

If you have an iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch, you can download the app via the apple app store.

We thank Attorney General Cooper and his staff for their hard work creating a more efficient way for citizens to access sex offender information.
