Deputy Danny Childress Retires

Deputy Danny Childress began his service to the citizens of Forsyth County as a firefighter with the Triangle Volunteer Fire Department in 1978 while attending Basic Law Enforcement Training.

In 1979, Deputy Childress was sworn in as a Special Deputy with the FCSO and later became a volunteer Reserve Deputy. He worked regularly as a Reserve Deputy at the Law Enforcement Detention Center assisting the Transportation Unit. Deputy Childress also participated in local events such as Steeplechase, Crosby Golf Tournament and Winston-Cup Preview.

In 1980, Deputy Childress became a full-time firefighter with the Winston-Salem Fire Department and retired in 2008. He held several specialty positions such as Hazmat Technician, Emergency Medical Technician and SCBA Repair Technician.

In 2003, Deputy Childress was hired as a part-time Deputy Sheriff and assigned to the Court Security Section. Deputy Childress will be missed and we wish him the best of luck in all future endeavors.
